Strategy[]

Player[]

A well-timed Block is when the block key is held just before a hit lands. It may be tricky to pull off, but successfully doing so will give Energy Charges for small Repairs or for his Specials to be remotely more useful.

Reflecting ranged attacks is his main game - if you're careful enough, he can reflect even the strongest of Ranged Attacks - physical or energy - back at his attacker. Adding to the insult to injury is that these reflected Ranged Attacks will make Jetfire's Shock Damage more devastating. Once you master him, he will serve very useful in lots of different scenarios. Note that Special Attacks can't be reflected (but is is possible to get a Charge)

It also works very well for melee combat, block after a combo and if the enemy is brash enough they'll immediately counterattack and be Stunned so you can get get another combo in.

Compared to Soundwave, who needs to have his Sonic Shield awakened, proc'd and a Power Bar filled, Jetfire is a more straightforward option to use, but riskier, because he requires a well-timed Block to reflect them compared to Soundwave, who just needs to get hit. However, Jetfire's reflection deals less damage than Soundwave's reflection. (100% on a max-ranked Jetfire compared to 140% on Soundwave)

It is much easier to reflect ranged attacks, but keep in mind effects from ranged attacks will not be inflicted.

Opponent[]

Stick to melee attacks, they'll serve you well. An AI Jetfire is known for their well-timed Blocks, which may put you at a disadvantage - especially if you use Ranged Attacks a lot. If any of your Ranged Attacks are reflected, dodge as soon as possible.

As of the v8.0 update, Jetfire is literally a walking Strange Refractor (just without the damage dealt on blocking), especially if he's AI-controlled. Try not to hit him when he's blocking.

Strong Match-ups[]

Bots[]

  • Any bots who rely on Ranged Attacks will get reflected by his Parry shield.
  • Megatron (RotF)  – Jetfire will be able to inflict Repair Block, stopping the king of the demolitions from Repairing at the end of the fight (If you can save five charges from his predictable heavies).
  • Ironhide  – The master of burns won't be able to tear anything apart when Jetfire Reflects his Ranged Attacks and Purifies his Burns. In the former case, Ironhide will only tear himself apart.
  • Waspinator - It should be obvious that Jetfire is a perfect counter to the Predacon bug. Waspinator's reliance on ranged attacks will fuel Jetfire's shock damage. Also, a well-timed Special II will stop Waspinator from feeling alive again.
  • Megatron - Reflecting his full-powered Heavy Attacks back at him will only hamper him.
  • Galvatron - The only thing that will stand in the way of Galvatron and his path to dominance is Jetfire. Reflecting his Heavy Attacks - especially if he has Fully Charged - will only Dark Burn the face of insanity.
  • Megatronus - The master of Demolitions will fall when his Dark Burning Heavy Attacks are reflected and Power Locks will temporarily drop his ability to switch Relics. That is, if you can save five energy charges. However the relic of obedience can prevent Jetfire to convert his energy charges to buffs.

Mods[]

Weak Match-ups[]

Bots[]

  • Cheetor will evade many of Jetfire’s primary attacks while Blocking any chance the big flyer has to Repair.
  • Tantrum's Frenzy will allow him to rid himself of annoying Shock debuffs while landing the occasional Unblockable hit through Jetfire’s Parry Shield.
  • The King of the Dinobots will only find Jetfire's Shocks to be all but a minor annoyance - all it does is fuel his rage, however! Reflecting heavy attacks will also do the same thing.
  • Bumblebee - Jetfire can convert Energy Charges into Shields. Shields that can be easily Broken. Also Jetfire's Repair System does not suppress any active Shocks, which will lead to catastrophic consequences for the big flyer.

Mods[]

Recommended Modules[]

Defend your base with Jetfire and these Mods!

  • Strange Refractor  – This mod will essentially enhance his inherent Block Stun - an ability that makes him a very scary defender.
  • Tech Console – Imagine a world where Jetfire sits atop a Tech Console, his Shocks would be amplified, his Repairs would be amplified. This is probably one of the worse case encounters you could face when Raiding someone’s base. Repairing more health and dealing more shock damage is a great mod for the Autobot jet.
  • The Paralyzer can give Jetfire longer block stuns and other ways to stun.
