Strategy[]

Commander[]

If Ratchet is low on health, use heavy attacks and Special 2 as much as possible. (But not at times when the opponent can easily hit you with ranged attacks) This allows him to use his Repair ability and recover health. As long as his heavy attack is not disrupted, his Repair activates even if his heavy attack does not hit.

Dealing shock damage from ranged attacks and healing at the same time is a good technique, so is using his Special 3 right after a heavy.

Ratchet's Synergy with Optimus has helped many Commanders out with Rulers of Kaon, try it out!

Opponent[]

Ratchet is the only Tech bot besides Shockwave who does not possess any kinds of Shields. The easiest counter to Ratchet's Repairs are Repair Blocks; Power Gains can be neutralized with Power Locks.

Try to engage Ratchet in hand-to-hand combat as often as possible, as it's not advisable to take ranged shock damage. It’s also noted that Al Ratchet loves to spam heavy attacks and it’s best to disrupt the heavy attack with ranged attacks. Bots with heavy ranged attacks will help you well since bots with heavy ranged attacks will mostly win against bots who has melee heavy attacks.

It's also better to use several lighter attacks than high-damage critical attacks, as he may undo the damage with his Emergency Repair.

Strong Match-Ups[]

  • Megatron (ROTF) - Shocks and the Special 3 will ignore Megatron’s tough armor and Ratchet can undo the damage Megatron has inflicted with his impair charges.
  • Galvatron will be less likely to activate Will of Unicron if Ratchet can keep his health up.

Weak Match-Ups[]

  • Cheetor's Repair Block and Power Locks will take this medic back to the repair bay.
  • Windblade can use her Special 3 to prevent Ratchet from activating his emergency response due to her damage-chipping method to bring down her opponent's health or use her Special 1 to neutralize his Self-Diagnosis. She can inflict Bleed by attacking him with light and medium attacks to counter his Repair.
  • Bonecrusher - Ratchet really relies on Melee Crit Rate on Special 3, something the Master of Bleeds's debuffs will deal more damage than the medic has to repair and those Bleeds will respectively reduce Power Gain.
  • Kickback is the perfect counter to Ratchet. It’s all about his heavy attacks which will consume any power gains, self-diagnostics, and shocks that Ratchet grants or inflicts as well as prevent Ratchet from spamming heavy attacks especially to activate self diagnostics with T-Clog.
  • Megatron can steal Ratchet’s self diagnostics and emergency repairs if he activates them from his heavies and he has a fused debuff.
  • Ratchet gains a lot of power because of his self diagnosis and special ll and the more power he gets, the stronger Grindor becomes.
  • Bumblebee - Ratchet has no Shields but his Self-Diagnosis Power Gain will be Locked by Bee's Special 2.
  • Shockwave's shocks prevent Ratchet from gaining any power and health. Battle of the big brain big thomp begins.
  • Grimlock will find Ratchet’s shocks only to be a minor annoyance and the king’s attacks will deal more damage than the medic has to repair.
  • Megatronus can steal power from Ratchet with the relic of fury and the relic of obedience can prevent Ratchet from gaining any emergency repairs or self diagnosis despite the class type advantages.
