Shattered Lenses

Shattered Lenses is a Spotlight Mission featuring the Shattered Glass Bots that ran throughout the month of November, following up from the story of Prime Suspect and Shattered Bridges.

Synopsis

Not all is what it first appears on New Quintessa. Usually the sight of Autobot team building would warm your Spark, but not when it's the sinister Autobot forces from a duplicate dimension becoming friends with deadly Decepticons!

No one can be trusted, nothing is what it seems, and a familiar face returning only tosses things into further disarray. You won't believe your optics when you look through the new Spotlight: SHATTERED LENSES.

Chapter 1 - Aperture

Mission 1 - Viewfinder

Part 1:

Optimus Prime (MV1): Megatron, I fear that the spread of your universe over ours is far from over.

Megatron (SG): I completely agree my friend, it seems as though the sense of Decepticon comradery still functions here. The Autobots and Decepticons are teaming up.

Optimus Prime (MV1): I agree with SOME of what you have observed. As such, I have brought someone who has viewed the war from both sides.

Dinobot: I feel uneasy with this, Prime. I want my suspicions noted for when this all turns against us.

Starscream (SG): Our Decepticon might is at your side my well toothed brother. What can ya' tell us?

Dinobot: Decepticons are a cowardly and superstitious lot. But, they are also opportunists. A mindless Maximal would certainly be recruited.

The stench of the twisted Cheetor is in the air, he'll be our first prey to track.

Part 2:

(SG) Cheetor: REND! TEAR! DESTROY! FEAST!

Grindor: You're talking a lot of sense there fuzz-face!

(SG) Cheetor: METAL....BLADES. GOOD FOR CUT. GOOD FOR DESTROY.

Grindor: Normally your chatter overwhelms my com channels. But, I think you and I could make a great partnership.

(SG) Cheetor: YOU BRING FOOD? YOU SLICE?

Grindor: Buddy, you show me how you take down some Bots and we'll have a heck of a meal!

Part 3:

Dinobot: Looks like the Decepticons are harbouring one of your escapees.

(SG) Starscream: Perhaps out of a sense of nobility? Providing safety and support to those in need?

Optimus Prime (MV1): Your instincts are praiseworthy Starscream, sadly I think more sininster motivations are at hand.

(SG) Starscream: I understand, but I shall still hold dear to my belief that true greatness awaits in the Ember of every Bot.

Dinobot: ...Everyone has been deeply unsettled by the hyperbolic sweetness of these Decepticons, yes? I can't be the only one.

Optimus Prime (MV1): It has taken some adjustment. I try not to dwell on it.

Grindor: You won't have to worry about it for long. Because I am looking to feed my new pet and you're about to be chopped chow.

Mission 2 - Focus

Part 1:

Marissa Faireborn: More reports of the...what do we even call them...EVIL Autobots?

(SG) Megatron: Evil is a subjective term, an easy label applied to an uneasy situation.

(SG) Starscream: ...to be fair boss-bot, some of them also just want to hear the sounds of pain. Like, "front-row ticket with a back- stage pass" fans of that noise.

Marissa Faireborn: Right...so there are some subjectively evil Autobots up ahead and Teletraan says they're actually trying to buff up the Decepticon forces.

Optimus Prime(MV1): I can not stand by as those who wish us harm gain assistance from other dimensions. We must hurry.

Part 2:

(SG) Ratchet: ...Perhaps I could sharpen your implements so that you can slice AND crush bones.

Bonecrusher: Bonecrusher is just a name. I slice, smash, crush... if there's a way to destroy something, I'll find it.

(SG) Ratchet: Still, I feel that there is more we can do together. Perhaps I can mend the bones of your foes after you crush them, for another round of crushing.

Bonecrusher: I ain't ever gotten to crush the same thing twice. I imagine that'd be quite the thing to see.

(SG) Ratchet: Now all we need is patience and patients. I do so wish to hear a symphony of suffering.

(SG) Starscream: See? EXACTLY like I said. Back-stage pass.

(SG) Megatron: It is difficult to put a positive spin on what we just heard.

(SG) Ratchet: Ah good, my next appointment is here. Time to test your reflexes. Has anyone seen my hammer?

Part 3:

Bonecrusher: Hey, Doc there was finally talking some sense. What's the big idea attacking your own guys!

(SG) Megatron: He was not of your world, remember yourself Bonecrusher. A proud Decepticon dedicated to clearing mines to keep others safe.

Dinobot: You can not possibly have hope for a Bot named Bonecrusher!

(SG) Starscream: It was an ironic nickname, like when you call a big guy Tiny. Our Bonecrusher is a big ol' softy.

Bonecrusher: I shall choke you in your own exhaust and strip the welds from your joints!

(SG) Megatron: This version does seem less interested in public welfare.

Optimus Prime (MV1): I have bested this beast before, his only language is destruction and I speak it fluently.

Chapter 2 - Flash

Mission 1 - Sensor

Part 1

Bumblebee (DOTM): Guys. I was running over some data with Marissa and Teletraan. It looks like we're going to have a big problem on ourhands.

Dinobot: Oh really? And everything was ALREADY going so well. You thought you'd just come and improve our quest with more bad news?

Bumblebee (DOTM): Sarcasm noted fossil-face. We've been having trouble tracking the doubles. They had a unique signature but it's flipping and disappearing.

Optimus Prime (MV1): So unless they attack us, we may not be able to tell our own Autobots from the dimensionally shifted ones?

Bumblebee (DOTM): Seems that way. There's a spot far ahead where this shifting is happening like someone's throwing a signal rave. Want me to check it out?

Optimus Prime (MV1): Proceed with caution. Who knows what dark plans these Bots have for us.

Part 2:

(SG) Jazz: Well look who came to the party! Some tragic fools looking to trip over their own feet.

Optimus Prime (MV1): No use trying to emulate our Jazz. We are wise enough to tell the difference.

(SG) Jazz: Hey, I'm so cool I'm hot. So smooth it's rough. Flipped world or not you can't hide when you look this good.

(SG) Starcsream: Is that how your Jazz acts? Because this is pretty much the Jazz I'm used to as well.

Optimus Prime(MV1): He has been known to be prideful, but that seems excessive.

Barricade: You should see how he has torn apart those that have crossed him. It was a ballet of brutality. Give them your report, Jazz.

(SG) Jazz: Quit your jibber-jabber. Do you think you know me? Of course you do. 'Cuz I'm famous.

Part 3:

Barricade: Feels good punching out a friend, dosen't it?!

Optimus Prime(MV1): Barricade, you take the form of a human peacekeeper but seek only violence.

Barricade: These days I'm just looking for a good time. Too many Megatrons to even take proper orders any more.

(SG) Megatron: Well if it is a chain of command you're looking for, I can certainly tell you what to do.

(SG) Starscream: Yeah, you've never had a friend like Megatron here. I'd follow him into certain doom if he said he had a plan.

Barricade: You heard the flying fool. Lead him to doom, imposter. Because it's coming for you all.

Mission 2 - Filter

Part 1:

Marissa Faireborn: Team. there was just a large explosion over the hill. Energon blasts, chemical burns, seems like a makeshift mobile lab went up.

(SG) Starscream: Something must have broken badly!

(SG) Megatron: We are en route. I take it this is another terrible team-up?

Marissa Faireborn: Seems logical, signals went dead following the blast but hopefully you can find some answers.

Dinobot: We shall forcefully interrogate whatever scrap remains of these worthless wastes of metal. I shall make them wish the blast freed them from this world.

(SG) Starscream: Dinobot, I find you to be violent and unfriendly.

Dinobot: ...I can live with that. Let's head out.

Part 2:

(SG) Wheeljack: You bumbling bucket of bolts! You mechanical misfit! Pray that the blast didn't harm my perfect technology.

Mixmaster: I was just mixing the chemicals like you said. This morphing paint is pretty volatile.

(SG) Wheeljack: Hmmm, It seems to still be functioning. Behold...a bit of heat and my emblem should change colours.

There! Do I better resemble my time-hopping doppleganger?

Optimus Prime(MV1): You can not hide the darkness that lurks in your spark, imposter.

(SG) Wheeljack: Mixmaster! Continue to distribute the disguise tech to the others. I'm going to experiment on this pitiful Prime.

Part 3:

Mixmaster: While you were busy feedin' vent-face a knuckle sandwich, I made sure the rest of the newcomers got their paint jobs.

(SG) Megatron: So this is what you've been using? A signal blocking cloak masked as paint?

Mixmaster: We have been brewin' and hidin' and all sorts of subterfuge for a good while now.

Dinobot: I was hoping this interrogation would be met with more...resistance. He seems to be without a firewall for his intel.

Mixmaster: Ah ain't no harm in telling you a thing or two before I melt you down to your base elements.

(SG)Starscream: You think a lot of yourself for a slow moving moron full of literal garbage.

Mixmaster: Good Starsceam, Bad Starscream...any way you're forged I always just wanna' punch you in the face.

Chapter 3 - Shutter

Mission 1 - Zoom

Part 1:

Optimus Prime(MV1): This is a most troubling development. It was already hard enough to tell our reflections apart, but if they can fully cloak there may be countless evils awaiting us.

(SG)Megatron: When you can't trust your optics you just have to go with your instincts and hope the creator gave you enough wisdom to tell right from wrong.

(SG)Starscream: Your Autobots here seem wise enough, I'm sure they could detect minute changes in personality and tone.

Grimlock: You back again? NO HURT PINK LADY! She friend. Grimlock protect!

(SG)Starcream: Does that kind exact comedic timing occur on this planet a lot?

Optimus Prime(MV1): It can seem that an unseen hand sets us up for confusion on a near monthly basis.

Part 2:

Grimlock: Arcee tell Grimlock everything. Cop Bot is bad clone. Boss Bot is bad clone. Trust no one!

(SG)Starscream: Easy there, perhaps you can lead us to Arcee and we could...talk with her calmly. Figure all of this out.

(SG)Arcee: I'm right here. You can't fool this strong friend of mine any longer. Just look who you brought to the fight!

Grimlock: Me have it figured out! You with Decepti-creeps! You bring tiny Dino to fight KING of Dinos!

(SG) Arcee: It's just like I told you big guy, everyone's out to get us.

Dinobot: Primus help us, she's weaponized his stupidity.

Optimus Prime(MV1): That's NOT the Autobot you know, Grimlock! Step aside and let us show you.

Grimlock: ONLY STEP ME DO IS ON YOUR HEAD! ME SHOW YOU WHO IN CHARGE!

Part 3:

(SG)Arcee: Awww. Looks like large, dumb and stumbling wasn't up to the challenge. Still was nice to have such an easily controlled henchman.

(SG)Megatron: Arcee, what is it you hope to gain from this world tossed into chaos? It is merely a larger cell which has imprisoned us all.

(SG)Arcee: Chaos! CHAOS IS WHAT I CRAVE! To watch the puppets dance. To sit on a high hill and watch the valley fill with the oil and scrap of war.

(SG)Starscream: The universe always finds a way to balance, this world must show you that. For every good and evil, for every evil a good.

(SG)Arcee: So I chip away at the good, plant the seed of paranoia, watch you rip one another apart to find the truth.

That the only true balance is destruction. Leaders or followers, all your Embers shall be extinguished.

Mission 2 - Negative

Part 1:

(SG)Megatron: Plant the seed of paranoia. Arcee said that. A most troubling phrase.

Optimus Prime(MV1): So far it has not suceeded, the reflections can't help but reveal themselves.

Bumblebee(DOTM): OPTIMUS! I...I followed the signal. You have to come quickly.

Optimus Prime(MV1): Bumblebee you look as though you have seen a ghost.

Bumblebee(DOTM): I might have, it's a bot we haven't seen for over a year. We thought he was lost during the arrival of Megatronus...

I found Ultra Magnus! He's over the next ridge with who I THINK is Hot Rod.

Optimus Prime(MV1): Magnus. he has been gone for so long. This may have gotten a lot more complicated.

Part 2:

Hot Rod: Prime! Bon! We 'ave found Ultra Magnus but 'e is acting tres bizarre!

Optimus Prime(MV1): Yes...we were concerned so we came as fast as we could. Hot Rod, are you feeling yourself?

Hot Rod: But of course, je suis fantasique! Except for concern over Monsieur Magnus.

Bumblebee(DOTM): Really? Because the Hot Rod that crashed on this planet never spoke with an accent. In other dimensions perhaps...but not this one.

Hot Rod: You think maybe I am in disguise, Bourdon? L'habit ne fait pas le moine!

Ultra Magnus: Hot Rod has been nothing but kind to me since finding me left for scrap in the wastelands. I'll thank you all to step away.

Hot Rod: Oui, lest we seperate and prove that qui court deux lievres a la fois, n'en prend aucun!

Optimus Prime(MV1): We can't be too careful. I think it's time to shut you both down and return to base.

Part 3:

Ultra Magnus: PRIME! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?

Optimus Prime(MV1): Ultra Magnus, be calm. It has been over a year since we have gotten any trace of you. Much has occured and must be explained.

Ultra Magnus: A year? No, that can't be. I just woke up. We were chasing someone or something ancient.The other Prime was at my side.

(SG) Megatron: Beings from my universe have recently come over. Twisted Autobots who do not resemble the find friends I see you have here. We seek only to protect ourselves.

Ultra Magnus: I don't know what's going on, but I know that a Decepticon can never be trusted. If there's a struggle you and Starscream are on the wrong side of it.

Dinobot: It sickens me to say this, but these two are noble and trustworthy. We can't even be sure YOU are Magnus or a shadow of him.

Ultra Magnus: You want proof? YOU WANT TO SEE WHO I AM? Tell your Commander to bring his best to this fight, because I'll show you exactly what I'm made of.
